The drum won't turn on my Bosch WFF 1401?

Hi,

The drum has stopped turning. At first when the clothes were wet I thought it may have been a problem with the pipes, I took them off and made sure there was no fluff in the machine. It fills with water and empties it but the drum no longer turns. Is there some sort of belt that might have slipped off or even snapped?

Thank you.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the reply. I had another look at it and the belt is actually fine. The drum turns manually so now i'm thinking it's the brushes on the motor? It fills and drains fine, the only problem is the drum doesn't turn. You can hear the timer clicking too. The quotes i've received so far are around about £80 fitted. I can't really get to the motor which is why i'm thinking it would just be better to buy a new machine.

Thanks,

Shaz.

Exactly right - there is a belt and as you say it's no longer where it should be! Probably broken, probably due to age. If you disconnect the machine, pull it out and remove the top you will be able to look down the back where you will see a very large pulley behind the drum with grooves in it. Down at the bottom of the machine you will find the belt that should be sitting in those grooves!
Sourcing and fitting a replacement belt is reasonably straightforward DIY - go for it!
