Laptop screen problem?

Hello, when i switch laptop on i get coloured blocks all over screen and sam on my desktop monitor, do i need a new screen? apreciate help Paulo

IF the laptop screen and the external monitor shows the same blocky graphics. Looks like video chip on the motherboard is faulty, which cannot be replaced. You are looking at new motherboard....any warranty?
