why does my sky digibox keep going into standby?

why does my sky digibox keep going into standby

My Sky Box only does this when left on over night, so I wonder whether there is some 'logic' within the settings to only do this after a certain time at night when it is more likely that the box has been left on by accident?

Switching off the auto shutdown option doesn't make any difference at all. There must be another solution? How are supposed to record something a few hours in the future? This is the most stupid thing ever ..

The problem is due to Sky remotely modifying the software of our digiboxes in order to make it switch to "Standby" if the box has been left on. It senses that no changes have been made by the user and therefore it "may" have been inadvertantly left ON. This was brought in to make Sky look good with regard to its "Green Credentials". In actual fact its made them look like a load of d*ckh*ads, because lots of people are paying money then didn't need to pay for having what they thought of as a faulty box repaired or replaced.
There is a fix for some of the newer digiboxes, by going into the "Setup" menu and switching off the "Auto Shutdown" option, but on the older digiboxes this is not an option.
Come on Sky, fix the problem fast or give everyone that is adversly affected a brand new digibox free!!

I have just recently - last 2 days been getting this problem....I have read on another forum that it is a new update release from Sky and the way to over-ride it is to go into the services area on your remote and option 5 is auto standby switch this to off and save the change! I have just tried this today and I am hoping it will resolve the problem.........watch this space!

No answer, sadly, but just entered this site with the very same question. It is MOST annoying and I am pretty sure it did not do this until fairly recently. iN FACT I did record something in the afternoon last year after about 8 hrs so it worked then..
