my dvd-r130 will play a disc from vidio shop but will not record a program it reads/loads the disc then ejects it with message check disc it also will not play any cds i am using the correct discs and have cleaned the lens

Yes mate had that problem and still have that problem even after it has being FIXED, these units tend to go out of alignment because of a dodge laser setup. Had mine fixed supposedly under warranty and it has the same problems less then a year later and it is barely used, like one disk a month!
