CH OK no HOT WATER on Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242 E ?

Central heating works fine, but not hot water on any taps. When I turn the taps warm water coming for few SECONDS and then COLD Water. I sometimes got hot water if I turned a tap on at the same time that the boiler fired up for the CH.

I had someone come out and said it could be the diverter, but then quoted me £3500 for a new boiler. Does anyone have any ideas ?

I have the same problem. I replaced the diverter valve 6 months ago. It cost 50 pounds off ebay. But now I have the same problem again! is it the diverter valve? others have said it could be the hot water sensor or even air pressure switch. Everyone gives a different answer! So dont know what to do.

I had the same problem with mine, my engineer fitted a new divertor valve for £200 then adjusted the flow rates and everything is fine now. You could just try the engineer to adjust the flow rates first, then replace the valve if neccesary.

Sounds like the diaphragm in the diverter valve is damaged. New diverter valve will cost between £120 - £200 plus fitting which will take 2 hours max.

i have the same problem and spoke to vaillant technical and they said it could be the diverter valve or the heat exchanger the diverter valve is about £90.00 for the part.
