I have a Ariston Eurocombi and I have a problem with my hot water?

My hot water is intermittent, the boiler fires up for a short time, then goes out. But if I turn the winter/summer/flue analysis modes knob to water/ heating, the boiler stays on and provides very hot water. Help!!!
