is it worth fixing my jvc camcorder?

hi I bought a jvc camcorder but have hardly used it, and it keeps on displaying remove lens cap when lens cap has been removed, unfortunately I have had about 4 years, and I have just found out they were recalling them because of the said fault, my question is does anyone know if it's a large job to fix the image sensor (as that is what appears to wrong) or shall I call it a day and cut my losses many thanks

If they were recalling this model to fix the problem the fact that you seem to have missed the recall shouldn't mean it isn't still available. Contact JVC to check, you might be able to get this fault rectified for nothing, if not getting the image sensor sorted on a 4 year old camcorder is probably prohibitively expensive.
