You need outputs to connect from your tape deck (if it has them) to your soundcard input. RCA jacks to the stereo and line in jack to soundcard. Can get at local Radio shack. Also need software to work with recording. Something like Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition is cheap and works and sounds great. Great for beginer and I still use it. Also easier to use than more expensive sofware. You can also get a tape recorder and player that goes right in your computer. Supper Trick item. Called "Plus Deck 2". Mounts in a drive bay. Again Super cool item. Try "ThinkGeek" website. I've been doing records and tapes for almost 2 years now and still not done, but man I sure have a large music collection and its all legal. Can get great deals on Ebay under tape lots. I even just hooked up a 8-track play to my computer. I am also able to put new music on 8-track tapes for driving around in my old AMC Pacer. It don't get any better than that. Good Luck
