First diagram under Intermediate circuit shows a light controlled by three switches. The Intermediate switch is a crossover switch... in the middle.

Wikipedia says... "DPDT switch internally wired for polarity-reversal applications"

Can be made from a DPDT switch quite easily with external loop wires - a DPDT switch has 6 terminals but an intermediate switch, with internal wiring has the looping built in and only presents four connection points.
