Eurovox is a Digital receiver.

Flashing is the act of updating firmware.

Firmware is software embedded semi-permanently in a memory chip - ROM (read Only Memory) - non volatile - does not lose contents when power is removed.

You change the software when the new software is better for you than the old.

Often downloaded to a computer as a Zip file - unzipped and "flashed" (installed) into the target device.

The BIOS in your computer can be similarly re-flashed.

Sorry about the Freudian references to Unzipping and Flashing - purely incidental.

flashing your box means that , when ever ntl tellyewest ect , trys to scrabbled the channels. the firmwear file, that you have down loaded from the web , and flashed" your box with , will un scrabble , the channells back to normal , in sec . on auto,,

first of all to flash a box , you need a pc / laptop. that has a port on the back of it thats is called ( rs 232 ) if you look at the back of the eurovox do you see the (rs232 ) wel you need a pc/ laptop with the same port on it , because to send the file that you have downloaded to your pc, via a null cable you must be able to link the box up to the pc/ laptop to do this. so the first think to check out is , has your pc/ laptop this rs 232 port?
