back actor?

why does the back actor keep dropping on my JCB 3CX
Sean, January 2009
it could be one of two items.firstly the oil in the lift ram could be bypassing the seals allowing the ram to drop you can test this removing a hose and see if any oil starts coming out of the pipe on the ram you should see a little bit but not a lot , secondly you may have a problem with a arv(large round sort of shape items on top and bottom of the spool block) on the back valve chest move your levers forwards and backwards but not with the machine running and careful as the back actor will still drop when the lever is moved, see which valves match ,then swop over a valve which has the same psi /bar reading see if this transfers the fault to another service if it does than you know a arv is faulty

Worn ram seals or control valve seals.
Control valve seals are the easiest to replace.
I'd do this first, if the drop is excessive.
I'm assuming you have no fluid leaks!
