Pulsacoil A Class?

hi, I have a pulsacoil "A" Class. I'm not sure how to use it. I have two switches on the wall which I presume one is for economy 7 which you switch on when using the timer/clock and the other is for constant. At the moment I have both switches on and the clock is set for 3 hrs in the morning and 3 hrs in the evening. The problem is the water is only luke warm. I have pressed the boost button and the water is hot then it goes luke warm when I jump into the shower. The clock is set to timed. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Should I only have one switch on the wall on or both? The pulsacoil green button on the machine is on too.

I think i need to set the clock to times during E7 but do i keep both the switches on the wall on?

Why is the water in my top up tank stagnant? Recently had it drained so they could replace two thermostats. It's now making a constant 'humming' sound.

How long does it take for booster to kick in? Our water doesnt get hot until 1 hour later?

We moved our timer to try and get more hot water in the day and this morning we did not have any?

Help please....

The top water tank should be keep about half full. This is normally done manually by turning on a valve to fill it or if unsure about this add water using a jug. Any queries Call me 07730 202510 Paul Brown Technician Southampton for electric heating systems specifically Gledhill. Good Luck.

Hello.

I had a similar problem with the a class. I would get about 10-15 mins of hot water before the temperature dropped and became intolerable.

Searched the internet and found out that if the water level runs too low in the plastic cistern above the heater, then the a class will not heat the water properly.

After topping up the water level (many times with an empty 2 litre coke bottle!), i now get constant hot water.

Try these links, hope they help.

Ok, this is how the Pulsacoil A Class works:

The two switches on the wall:
1 turns the boiler on (this must be kept on or the boiler doesn't work) - one on the left
1 turns the timer clock on (this must be kept on or the timer doesn't work) - one above timer/clock
BOTH MUST BE KEPT SWITCHED ON - Do not turn off.

The Green switch on the Pulsacoil must always be switched on
KEEP SWITCHED ON - Do not turn off.

The Timer Clock is now set on timed and comes on during off peak hours (12 midnight to 7am) it comes on when the thermostat thinks the water is getting cold. So water is heated during the night. Do not turn this off.

THE ONLY BUTTON YOU NEED TO PRESS NOW IS JUST THE BOOSTER BUTTON IF THE WATER ISN'T HOT ENOUGH. LEAVE IT ON FOR 1HR THEN PRESS BOOSTER BUTTON AGAIN TO SWITCH OFF. (do not touch the other switches or turn the green button off as they are all set properly)

Going forward now, when you wake up in the morning the water should be hot enough for a bath or shower, but if not:

Press the BOOSTER button and leave on for 1hr max whilst you take your bath/shower and then PRESS BOOSTER BUTTON TO SWITCH OFF.

Do not turn off any other switches incl the green switch on Pulsacoil.

How it works..
The Pulsacoil has two immersion heaters inside, a bottom one which is heated during off-peak hours between 12 midnight and 7am and its thermostat controlled.

The top immersion is the on-peak booster button which heats the top of the water and is controlled when you hit the booster button on the Pulsacoil.

The timer is set so that water is heated during the night when the thermostat kicks in and then if more water is needed during the day, you press the booster button which kick starts the top immersion heater.

You will have warm water at the bottom of the tank which has been heated during off peak hours and then when you hit the booster it heats the top of the water.
