IT HAS A BURNING SMELL AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE.IT ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE BLACK DUST UNDER THE FILTER.

Burning smell and loud noise are consistent with motor starting to fail / in its last throws prior to death.

dysonmedic.com shows how to access the motor - excellent pictures.

I don't kow this motor but black dust is consistent with excessive brush wear - from the motor - it all adds up Watson.
