got a thompson top up tv box , can`t switch it on , red light keeps flashing away like a beacon in the night ,, can it be fixed ,,, it was my brothers , he was going to toss it out , thought i`d try here ??

I've looked in the trouble shooting section of my thomson DT1000 and says nothing about flashing power light. Or wait for a hopeful solution on forum, other than 'Bin it'.
