reading several answers i.e. solutions to remove the lid i have done as suggested though once the small circular push buttons have been removed i dont have a screw to loosen its a thin plastic rod and i cant figure how to continue to get the lid off, any help would be appreciated thank you

There are many types of cisterns so to get a positive reply can you not name the cistern?

Mine just lifts up about 2" then it has to be slid sideways to release it from the syphon plunger bracket.
