Whirlpool ADP7966 Dishwasher no longer washing dishes?

Hi, Our dishwasher has suddenly become rather temperamental - somedays it will work fine and others the dishes will come out dirtier than they went in. It mostly seems to be the glasses and cups that come out dirty, but occasionally the lower shelf doesn't get clean either. The best way to descirbe the dirt is to say it looks rather like little bits of shreddies stuck on everything.
It's a Whirlpook ADP 7966, which we bought second hand. We didn't get a manual with it and I've been unable to find one on the internet.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks.

I've been adding some dishwasher salt and some rinse aid and I've definitely noticed an improvement. Still not perfect though.....

Hi, That's exactly what they look like! I can't think of a better way to describe it.

I haven't found a manual at all, but a friend suggested that I try using dishwasher salt and rinse aid. I bought some at the weekend and put some in yesterday. Both packets say to refer to the manufacturer's instructions which I don't have so I'm just guessing really. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

I am having the exact same problem and just like you said it's mainly my pint glasses that come out with what appears to be shreddies on the exterior and a salt like substance inside.

Have you managed to find a manual or any reason what is causing said problem?
