I have rcd protected "fusebox"with mcb s in the garage.The feed to this comes from the house main unit-also protected.Ifsomething trips the garage rcd it also trips the whole house system,and both have to be reset.Should the garage feed come from the non rcd side of the main box to stop this?Any comments welcomed and appreciated. you have 2 options, i would change the rcd in the garage for a main sw or as you call it a non rcd switch ,this way the rcd in the house protects not only the garage but also the cable feeding the garage .
the other way is as you said, but the cable feeding the garage is not rcd protected this way ,

Thanks for the reply,I did not mention that I had sorted the fault.However I would still like to prevent the house being plunged into darkness ,whilst still keeping the garage protected in the event of future incidents. Nick

The correct answer to the question that you did not ask is to find out what is tripping the RCDs and get it fixed. The RCDs are there to protect life. At the moment only the two RCDs are stopping something that could be quite nasty - like lethal!
