Why does the fuse on my JVC DR-MH200 keep blowing?

We had a series of power surges and one of them blew my DVD player, I looked at the internal fuse and it was clear it had blown, so I changed it thinking that would solve the problem, but when I switched it on, it blew again. Any ideas why?

Any ideas why?

Of course I can only guess... The power surges you speak of may have destroyed a component in the internal power supply causing a sort circuit type fault sufficent to draw more current than the fuse allows.

I guess a defective power supply. I have been away from electronics too long to suggest which component - I suspect it does not have a transformer - so I guess the rectifier block.
