Audi Symphony radio fix?

Hi - I drive a 2002 A8 Quattro Sport (D2 model). My vehicle is fitted with a standard-fit Audi Symphony radio with integral CD. Today I turned the radio off whilst driving and now, no matter what I do and which ever button I press, the radio is lifeless - it seems 'frozen'...though the button backlights remain illuminated (even when the key is out of the ignition and the vehicle is locked). I am worried that this will drain the battery - any ideas?

hi i had a similar problem with my Symphony II the backlight was on but no sound. a few weks later a pop and it went dead. however worse still it started to smoke. i pulled the fuse and have had it checked out and they found 2 x 5p coins had got inside and have now burnt out the whole stereo. I dont have young children so the coins came from the loose change drawer above the stereo. i hope you dont have the same. get the stereo removed and give it a shake, if its loose money you may have saved your stereo.

Fixed - located radio fuse in boot compartment (a challenge in itself as most of the fuses are located in the driver footwell) and removed fuse momentarilly. Having returned the undamaged fuse the radio works fine - no code required either...very strange!
