Are Ideal WLx boilers now obsolete?

With gas prices going up, we have looked into getting a combi boiler as more efficient. We currently have an Ideal WLx boiler, which I know is the original boiler put in when property 1st built over 20yrs ago. Warm Front have given me a grant and will only replace boiler if there is a prob with it or if it is now obsolete. So any info given will be greatly appreciated.

I think they were tying to tell you that if it went wrong they would change it. So wait until the weather is warmer and see if it will go wrong. The most likely thing that can go wrong is when some thing like a metal object falls on to the electroncs. This is all at low voltage so all that will happen is it will die and can be very expensive to replace. Better fit a new boiler.

Apart from basic parts like thermocouplings and possibly gasvalves i would expect this boiler to be obsolete now as the Classic range are the latest brand.I wouldnt expect to be able to get say the main heat exchanger.
