my toshiba laptop has gotten quite a few viruses. when you turn it on it boots up and before you can do anything to it, it shuts its self down

my best answer is to re-install a fresh copy of your o.s. - xp/pro perhaps - and then put a free anti virus program from download.com either avg or avira - i have had good success w/ most hard drive issues doing this.
