I have observed some random behaviour from devices that have IR controller sets with them. The problem I see is random when a nearby "Lo-energy" light bulb is ignited. It appears to "ramp up" and pass thru the spectrum whilst being switched on. It is then is capable of randomising IR devices. May be if you have them in the same or adjacent rooms this will be a possible cause. Another possible is your "near friends" have a remote that has a sympathetic frequency and they "work you over now and again". It might just happen.
