Dishwasher Des 959, what does the error AL4 mean?

Error AL4: what does it mean?
Barbara Leonard, December 2005
Hi There

Error AL4 came up twice, got the machine to work again but the floor is now flooded. Is this leak repairable or do I buy the wife a new DW ?

Hi CraigK

Regarding your answer about error AL4 on the Dishwasher, I've encountered the same noise. It sounds like the water pump, which pumps the water into the rotating arms. Have you sorted out this noise ?

Ben, May 2007
Basically it means that your DW has a leak and the DW has sensed this automatically; accordingly, the machine won't operate with a leak. I have had this problem before, disconnected and gave the DW a good clean and a good drying out (there is a big chunk of sponge running along the base of the machine at the rear - it was saturated, so I pulled it out gave a good squeeze and dried it in outside, replaced it and connected the DW up again). The DW worked OK (but was noisier) for 8-9 months...until yesterday when I got the same fault again.
