Why does my Toastmaster 1195 bake the loaved too dark?

We have a Toastmaster Model 1195 breadmaker which came with our house. We've used it three times, and all three times the loaves have been overbaked, even though we have use the setting with the lowest bake time. Today, we tried turning the breadmaker off 15 minutes before the cycle was supposed to be finished, and the bread was better, but still darker than it should have been. Somehow, this doesn't seem like the way to do things. Anyone have an idea why the machine would be burning the bread? Thanks in advance!

1. Have you tried other cycles? If not try other cycles.
2. Does it keep the time as it shows when cycle starts (if it shows 3:30, does it last exactly 3hrs and 30 mins)? If yes, check other cycle times (i.e. kneading, rising, baking, etc. Check if user manual has these times and compare them with the machine timing). Otherwise, respond to this e-mail and I will try to get our machine's cycle timing and respond to your e-mail.

Most likely either your timing unit is messed up or there is a short with the heating element.
