ryobi pcn4040 chainsaw automatic oiling inoperative?

Although the oil tank is full no oil comes out to lubricate the chain. Presume there is a blockage somewhere, how do I fix it?
Brian Hill, February 2009
Mine did the same. Oil pump is on a friction drive from the back of the clutch - drive pin shears off!! Pretty much a full strip down to fix, bits can be hard to get. One of several standard Ryobi problems, my service bloke throws them away because they are not reliable enough to warranty even after a fix. Best place is the bin, buy yourself a second hand Stihl, Makita or similar if funds run to it, or an £80 Spear and Jackson if it doesn't because at least they have a two year guarantee (Argos).
