Whirlpool Duet Sport F28 and F30 error codes?

Washer is approx 39 days over the warranty (1 YR). It quit in the middle of a cycle. Door locked, displayed error code F28 and F30. Can anyone give me advice. I live in a remote area and have to fix myself. Thanks. Model # WFW8300SW03

I used Alan's method above -pull out the tray , reach back and pull the lever forward-clockwise. Also unplug before attempting!

I too have had this problem many many times, beginning at pretty much the same time AFTER the warranty was up, less then 40 days. I even had to have the entire tub motor and related parts replaced and whirlpool refused to honor the warranty because it was 7 days after the warranty. I called Whirlpool Corporate and the nicest woman on the planet honored the warranty and had a the repair shop come and pick it up in less than 24 hours. Got it back and it ran great for a month then began the F28 all over again... ...On this machine you must remove the lower front panel by removing the three 1/4" screws from bottom, reach up the right side of the machine find the plastic tab dangling there and give it a pull and the door comes open. THERE IS NO LEVER ANYWHERE NEAR THE SOAP TRAY.
Now I will try the cleaning of the contacts. If this works I will be amazed, if it remedies the recurring problem I will be happy and amazed. If it does not. I will dump the machine and buy a samsung and NEVER purchase a Whirlpool or any other product they are associated with.

F28 is a serial bus error from the CCU (Central Control Unit) to the MCU (Motor Control Unit).
I've had this error twice over the past several years. All you need is some Electronics contact cleaner spray and a 1/4 inch socket to remove the top of the machine and the back of the machine.
The CCU is the computer looking box at the top front right hand corner. Find connector M13, (has red marking on it and only 3 wires) disconnect it by pushing the retainer tab back and pulling gently on the connector. Spray the contacts of the connector and computer with connector cleaner. Then re-assemble connector.
The MCU is in the back lower left corner. Find the connector with 3 wires and red mark, and remove this connector in the same way you did the other, spray it and re-install.
Put the back and top back on.
This has worked for me twice.

Simply pull out (remove) the detergent tray, reach all the way back with your hand and feel for a lever, pull it forward, and Roberts your mom's brother!!
