How can I fix my Kenmore 60 Series washer?

Kenmore 60 series washer - freezes/stops during rinse cycle - have to depress knob and manually advance 2/3 clicks and pull knob back out to continue cycle. Happens on Perm Press, Regular, etc - all different wash modes. I've seen at least 5 different questions on the web asked about this same problem and no answers, just more questions. I'm hoping there's some way to fix without purchasing excessive new parts. Please help, thanks!

Hello,

It sounds like a bad timer. Try wiggling the knob where it gets stuck to see if that gets it going. If so, timer is faulty.
