my friend has a 3dongle pay as you go modem, which she unplugged while decorating and now her system wont recognise it , connect or nothing. the modem is ok as its flashing as it should be and everything is plugged in where it should be..any help much appreciated

I would start by doing a reinstall of the USB adapter and software.

Alternatively, she should call 3. They will step her though the diagnostics.
