i just got my 6 cd changer to start working again (for the first time since i got the car tbh) now i got no audio from the cd player........ but if you get a drive error and you take it apart on the bottom of the cd carrier left hand side when you turn it over there is a silver thing with 3 wires held on by a screw with J01OKd on mine take it off and it's a slider. give it a quick spray with switch cleaner and slide it up and down then replace making sure the peg locates. my cd's loads and unloads, reads, starts playing now when it wouldn't before. only thing is i got nothing coming out sound wise witch is more then i had to start with. so why would the audio now be working before i start taking it to bits trying to find out through trial and error? oh and holding the power button for 30 seconds negates the need to remove the power and put it back it's a reset without the code. worked for me :)

i will make it work..., May 2017

If you cannot eject CDs, remove the audio unit disconnect power supply to unit and with the unit unplugged press the on/off button 6 times. Then reconnect, enter code and test. Should be ok. I work in a Ford dealer and this was an instruction from Fords

Thanks Gordon for your response, I have done a bit more research, and have been advised that if I diconnect the neg / terminal from the battery, I run the risk of having to recallibrate all the other features that my mondao has ie: cruise control, and etc .!! so I didnt go there.
This morning I took a trip to my local Ford dealer and asked them to remove the audio/cd player, thgen disconnect the power supply for a few mins. the reinstall enter the code (whic I had in the manual ta.)
and BOB'S YER UNCLE' pushed eject and they all came out. I was over the moon, for a couple of days earlier a Ford Dealer spokeman had said that I would have to get a reconditioned unit, cost plust fitting............£380.00!!!! So just for a nice 'drink' i was very pleased as you can imagin.
Cheers again for your kind offer of assistance. I need to get four of the exraction keys next so if it happens again I know what to do.

I had the same problem with my cd player too.It just needs re-setting.Before you can do this you will need the 4 digit code lock that was supplied with the vehical documents.
All you have to do is disconnect the negative lead from the main car battery for about 10 seconds.
After you've re-connected the battery the display on the cd unit will ask for your 4 digit code.At this point you should be able to eject any or all discs.Untill you enter your code lock the unit will not produce any sound. If you didn't get a hand book with the car this bits a bit tricky. For obvious security reasons i won't go into detail on how to enter the code!!!!But if need advice on this, your Ford dealer may be able to help, provided that you can show proof of ownership!Alternatively E-mail me & i might be able to help.
I did this procedure & it cured the fault.
If you manage to fix it,please let me know.

many thanks for that info, it appears to be a common problem! As i'm uncertain how to 'remove the head' I wonder if disconnecting the batt terminal would have the same result as taking the unit out?

I also suffered this problem with the Sony unit fitted in a 05 Ghia.

It tended to happen more if 6 cd's were loaded and I used to remove the head unit and disconnect the power for a few seconds. When it was reconnected all was fine.

It would sometimes happen when I had less than 6 cd's and if I fiddled with the load and eject buttons for a while it would eject and everything would then be fine.
