my transit 2001 fwd will only go in 3rd & 4th gear?

can only get 3rd & 4th Gear in my transit 2.0 fwd
no reverse either gear box sounds ok

sounds like one of the selecor cables has snapped.with it selecting two gears,
its the most expensive one of the two..

I belive that its down to the two cables that go from the stick to the gearbox. They have plastic parts and wear. Usually starts with second gear!
