I just came across the same problem with one of my cast iron rads in my 100 year old character house. The rad sprung a pin hole on the top . I isolated the rad and cleaned a large area around the leak, mixed up some JB weld and applied 3 light coatings . It's been around a month now since the repair and the rad has been running continuosly with no problem.
