My Sony TA VE 150 remote control?

The Amp is the blink due to the normal dry joints on the out put IC's. I plan to have a go at repairing this at the weekend but my remote is also U/S, this used to operate the tv as well but now does nothing. Is there any way i can test it or could it have amnesia and need reprogramming. The batteries are fine.

The simplest way to check that a remote is transmitting is to shine it at the lens of a camcorder or digital camera. When you press a button on the remote you should see a light at the front of the remote. If there doesn't seem to be any sign of life, check that the infra- red led on the main board of the remote hasn't come unsolderded from the main board, also check the battery connrections are soldered ok onto the board.Sometimes there's a crystal or resonator that can become loose on the main board..best of luck....Gordon
