Black marks on wood worktop?

I have a couple of nasty black stains on my wooden worktop in my kitchen. Does anyone know a good stain remover that will work on wood and solve this problem or will I just have to cover them up?

Similiar problem to one I had just after I installed my new kitchen. Just sand it down until the marks are gone & rewax/varnish/oil, will look as good as new again

if your work tops are real wood a simple sand and restain the affected areas should solve your problem.
