how does the chain oil get to the chain?

how does the chain oil get to the chain
shaun, March 2009
The pump which is driven by a gear on the crankshaft, plumps the oil from the reservoir to an outlet hole in the side of the saw behind where the bar sits- this corresponds with a hole or slot in the bar which directs oil to the chain which is distributed along the chain and bar when the chain is rotating.
