some drums do need to be changed, if you take the top lid of the machine and have a look at the drum if the drum has a joint all around that is bolted together then you do not have to change the drum

bearings can be changed but youll probably need to change the drum support aswell. its quite an involved job and most independants wont touch it. if the machine is under 5 years old then hotpoint will repair for a one off fee about 90 quid
