mitsubishi diamond pro says "no signal"?

Help, i got a diamond pro monitor which gives me the No Signal message.

The monitor does power up, so its not the power supply.
when i plug a computer into the vga connector, i dont get the signal, just the same box floating around saying no signal. Also if i press the menu button in the front of the monitor, i get no response to it.

any advice, help, tips & tricks are most welcome.
thanks

Hi joed,
I don't know your monitor specifically so this is just general advice.
Check for bent or broken pins on the VGA plug from the monitor. The monitor may look at just one signal (e.g. the vertical sync signal) to tell whether there is a signal present or not, so if the pin for that signal is broken or bent, the monitor will think there's no signal even if the other pins are OK.
The monitor probably doesn't respond to the front button because it thinks it has no signal, so this behaviour probably isn't a useful clue to the problem.
Good luck!
