sky+ box not very old. when we watch a recorded prog from the planner sometimes it will freeze for several seconds, will then switch off and then u cant do anything with it for several minutes. other times whilst recording a prog the recording will not stop and carries on for hours until u cancel it. other times the sky box will not turn on for ages.

Also the weather affects the sky+ box too, especially rain or muggy weather. The dish is pointed in its optimum direction for general weather, so any severe weather variations affect the dish.

To make the sky box do a system update, hold " back-up " button on the actual box ( not remote ), with the button pressed in, turn off the power, keep it pressed it for 10 seconds. Hold " back-up " button in again and turn power on, keep pressed in until all coloured lights turn on at same time, should get a screen saying the system is updating itself. Hopefully this will fix any probs !

thanks for that. we have to do that anyway everytime it freezes etc, was looking for something more longterm that would fix the problem and stop it happening again. thanks again

switch it off at the mains for a couple of minutes then turn it back on - this usually fixes it.
