You can buy replacement mirror glass for your car, just sticks over the broken mirror. I used one on my Astra, worked very well. Available from car accessories shops & good old fleabay.

In the UK Halfords sell replacement mirror glass for most popular makes and models - they have a reference book to look up your car and it gives a mirror code number which you select from a display rack. The left and right mirrors are obviously handed. Full instructions in the package.
