My Kitchen Aid Superba Model ykawe777bw1 will not spin?

The machine completed the wash cycle then prior to spinning made several loud clicking noises and then refused to spin. The machine still had water in the bowl. The load was relatively light. Now all that happens when spin is selected is the water pump drains any remaining water in the bowl and a whirring noise can be heard - possibly the machines electric motor is running but the transmission to the spinner does not seem to engage. Also can't seem to locate a manual on the web for this machine.

Hi. I am a doityourselfer and have fixed this problem several times. Your washer is considered a direct drive model. The motor attaches to the transmission with a three part "coupling kit". It has 2 plastic lugs linked by a rubber ring. When the lugs break, the symptoms are as you described. This part is cheap (6-10.00) and available from most appliance parts stores. It is replaced by disengaging the motor from its mounts and slipping the new part over the motor shaft and transmission shaft. All work is done from the underside of the machine. Good luck!
