How do i repair my Diplomat Washing Machine Model APM8513/2. It just makes a clicking noise and does not do the wash, spin, rinse and nor does it drain the water out. What could be the problem? Please help?

In response to Ingrid, I suspect that your ''repair man'' was a cowboy who's trying to charge you for fitting a new timer that you simply don't need (plus his call-out fee and minimum of an hour's labour for a 15-minute job...), and then subsequent visits to ''repair'' your ''chronic problem'' when it ''recurs''. :(

I appreciate that your post was 4 years ago and this is therefore way too late to be any help, but this kind of rip-off really annoys me, and if anybody else suffers this problem then hopefully this will help them. :)

I have a similar problem, and after asking a few people's opinions they all seem to agree that there's probably a bit of dirt or another foreign body (something left in a trouser pocket perhaps?) that got sucked-into the pump, obstructing it, and therefore preventing it from pumping the water properly.

The clicking/ticking noise is that obstruction being whirled-around inside the rotary pump.

A sensor then detects that the pump isn't pumping, and therefore disables all the functions as a safety feature.

Firstly, UNPLUG THE MACHINE and disconnect the hot/cold water pipes and outlet-pipe.

There should be a white plastic drain-plug on the bottom right corner of the front of the machine that unscrews to let any water out, but it's very close to the floor and therefore difficult to get a big-enough, shallow-enough container to catch all the water that pours-out.

There could potentially be around 4-5 litres of water in the machine, so get a couple of large buckets ready to tip your shallow container into, and stop the flow by covering the drain-hole with a finger while you empty the shallow container, or get somebody to help you.

You'll need to lay the machine on it's side to access the pump through the bottom of the machine.

When it's removed, the 2 parts of the pump-housing split-apart by removing the screws and easing them gently apart to avoid damaging the rubber O-ring that seals the 2 parts together.

Remove the obstruction and reassemble everything carefully, making-sure to seat all the hose-clips carefully, otherwise it'll leak for ever-more.

Hi there. We have the same problem with the same machine. We've had a repair person come to our house who says he thinks it's the timer. Apparently this is a chronic problem with our model and it recurs if you get it repaired; his company have recommended getting a new machine. Have you heard any more since posting your question???
