Toyota 2.5 td D4d Engine rattle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

got a 2004 hi ace van with the d4d 2kd engine, was rattling on tick over and getting worse through the rev ragne, had the head re shimed and and skimmed, valve seats done.Checked the big end bearings and the small ends and they seem fine. i put the engine back together and it started first time but was still rattling, sounds like tappets but its not. The diesel pump is driven off the bottom pulley and when you hold the bottom pulley with a spanner and move the pump puley its knocking back and forth, could this be the problem?

the van went in for a timing belt change and its run like this since, i have re done the timing myself and its spot on, seems to have oil pressure also its started to puzzle me

any help would be great, any suggestions would help its costing me work

cheers in advance
