My Kenmore washer filled up with water but now won't start washing. Any tip?

My approx. 4-yr-old Kenmore Heavy Duty Super Capacity 2 motor with 3 settings filled with water as usual but then just stopped. No noise, no movement, no nothing.
Is there something simple this might be? I sure can't afford a repair person...
