28CDI - Replacing mechanical programmer for electronic?

I have just bought an electronic programmer (SO24E7)to replace the mechanical one on my Worcester 28CDI.
When I installed it, the boiler would not fire up when demanded. Do I need to fit a link in anywhere as there is no external thermostat on my system?

+1 for the huge thanks - this is precisely the information I needed to sort out our boiler and prevent christmas from being a chill-out..!

Thanks Bunslinger!

Hi Bunslinger,

Thanks for your advice, I did as you said and all is working great!

You're a star, cheers mate.

Hiya

If you are fitting the on-board digital programmer:

Yes, you will need a link between LS and LR if there is not one fitted. These are mains voltage connections, please isolate the boiler electrically and do take care.

You can access these connections by taking the long narrow strip off the bottom of the grey part of the fascia.

If you are fitting an external programmer that wires back to LS and LR, that should do away with the need for the link.
