Panasonic DMR ES30V stoped working after playing a video?

My Panasonic DMR ES30V stoped working after I had finished watching a video and attepted to re-wind it. It ejected the casset and the display went off, I attempted to reinsert the casset and try the remote nothing happened. I turned the machine off at the mains and left it over night. Next morning I turned the power back on and again nothing, also no through fead to the TV and so I have had to put the airial plug direct to the TV.

My Panasonic DMR-ES30VEB was repaired by my local radio dealer less than a year ago for a power supply failure. It's failed again and I have opened it up and found that C9125 has failed. This looks like the same component that was replaced last time as it is not sitting close to the pcb like other components. I am wondering if the correct value (size and voltage rating) was fitted as the unit has only been used for about 3hrs. The current capacitor is 680uF 6.3v. Is that correct?

also replace c9125 which causes intermittant shut down

Remove case
Remove carefully front and rear panels
Save screws in discreet piles
Tug free DvD drive 4 pin ribbon conn from pcb
Unscrew DvD mount screws leaving in flexi mounts
Unscrew small Drive pcb fixed to case edge
Remove drive leaving multi conn ribbon in place
Remove all 5 or 6 pcb securing screws
Carefully tilt up right side pcb by 3 – 4 inches and prop
Locate c1209 usually swollen
Check c1204 for same
Desolder from underside with mini iron
Replace c1204 with 2000mF 25 volts or higher
Replace c1209 with 1000mF 16 volts or higher
Replace all in reverse order… Bingo OK

No answer but similar problem. Symptoms started with ramdom switching off. Then it would randomly seek the DVD with message wait please. Then unit randomly switches off. It will power up after removing / replacing the power lead but then randomly time wise just switches off, August 2010 - a good technician needed I think. Would be interested to know ehere the caps. 104 and 109 are and their function.

Very common prob this - if you do some surfing on line there are a number of pages that tell you how to fix eg there are 2 capacitors that you will need to replace c104 AND c109 I think - just done mine - approx a fiver from RS. Fiddly but certainly repairable!

Sorry, I don't have an answer but I do have an identical problem where the Player (Both DVD & VHS) will boot up if the electrical supply is changed for around 10 seconds, the VHS will start making sounds as if it is going to kick in then the whole machine turns off and the supply has to be removed and reconnected to get teh same thing again.
I took the power board out and inspected it, Fused link OK, No burnt components, no dry joints and the basic incoming electrical supply metered out after the mains socket.
Friend of mine has suggested Switch mode PS is defective - think this must relate to the multi-voltage output transformer?!?
STill looking as I write
