How can I fix my timer knob on Kenmore washing machine?

My timer knob spins freely on my Kenmore Model 110.82873820. I can click it to where it needs to be with a screw driver and it will wash and go through all of the cycles its just that the knob will not engage and spins freely. Can you help?
