fix for a la-z-boy footboard?

My la-z-boy recliner has 3 positions for the footboard but now it will only go all the way out. any help?

Roll the chair over. You will see a metal rod that runs left to right. The rod has the handle attached to one end. Attached to the rod you will see two one inch spring connected to one inch pins. This is the part of the mechanism that controls the ottoman. Take a clean paint brush an clean away any lint dirt from that area. Then lubricate the pins and springs with mineral oil. Be sure to put something under the chair to catch the oil when you are finish. If that dose not work you will need contact a repair shop. Good-luck.
