Can I re tune my Freeview on my Trinitron?

I am unable to re tune the Freeview digital programmes even though I have re tuned the analogue stations on my Sony Trinitron. Is there a master re tune button at all? If I go in to "menu" and then "set up" (on digital) the re tune is greyed out. Can this be un greyed at all to allow re tuning like the analogue menu?

Just had great trouble attempting to retune Trinitron using hand set, switching cables etc etc. after switch to digital in our area - Laura's suggestion worked a treat. Many thanks, 2 hour job changed into 2 mins !

"Tell Laura I love her..."

OK, maybe that's a bit much.

You solved it for me. Thanks

Thanks, Laura's plus Steve's contribution made all the difference. It was not in the instruction book exactly, which only refers to using the remote. Plenty of people had suggested that somehow it was our fault for having so old a set.

Laura's solution works - press the second button on the tv first, then navigate with the remote (make sure you're switched onto digital and not analogue).

Yes, followed Laura's instructions (March 2009) and was successful - hurrah!!!

When I retune, my TV gets stuck on 4% and goes no further. Do you know what I could do?

I just managed to retune mine. Not sure how I did it but I will try to explain.

On the actual TV there are a panel of buttons. if you press one of them (the one next to changing the AV etc) a message will come up about adjusting screen or slope (something like that). Use your controls and press OK, eventually it will start a digital retune which is different then if you try to do it from controls. After this it will do a normal TV retune and when all is finished you should have all your channels back.

I am sorry this isn't very clear, but I worked it out by chance (I was fed up with channel 5!). I don't want to risk ruining it to work out exactly how its done.

Good Luck xxx
