I am wondering if it is possible to source bimetal springs(for on off function) for the Sunbeam toastematic TA-40, as the one in our beloved family toaster broke(I was 'fixing it').

Bi-metal strip is not the sort of thing you find in the stores in town - I think you will have to go to a specialist repairer or "borrow" a similar strip from a broken appliance.
