How can I fix my tempermental on/off issue with my XRX-8X scredder ?

My XRX-8X schredder often wont turn itself on (using auto setting) and take paper. If I rock the unit or play with it, it will eventually activate and take paper. ( Until the next usage, and I must repeat this ritual). Any solutions out there to this problem ?
