Leaking internal gutter?

I have a house with two pitched roofs that meet in the middle with an internal gutter made of iron. It appears that the gutter is coated with bitumen that is cracked and is allowing water to leak into the house. How do I repair this?

It could be the joint opened up.

The only thing is to bitumen the crack. Alternate is to have the gutter replaced with lead box gutter or aluminium gutter. Either of the latter costly.
